Huddersfield Leisure Centre

  • Portable hoists are available to help accessible swimmers into the pool. Some swimmers prefer to be assisted into and out of the water (with a maximum weight capacity of 21 stone/136KG)
  • Steps (built-in and portable) which are slip resistant and include hand rails
  • Pool access steps recessed into the tank wall
  • Submersible platform lift for a person unable to walk or having limited mobility. The platform is similar to a movable pool floor providing a lift set into the pool surround. It enables a wheelchair user to enter and leave a pool with the minimum of assistance (with a maximum weight capacity of 89 stone/570KG)
  • Waterproof wheelchairs are provided for convenient and easy to access to and from the pools and for access to the leisure water if required. The chairs are also suitable for pre and post-swim showering
  • The Training Pool and Main Pool have an  hydraulic floor for ease of access
  • Pool temperature is kept between 28-31 degrees
  • Mobile hoists are also available which can be moved around the poolside offering access to various locations (with a maximum weight capacity of 21 stone/136KG)
  • Larger unisex accessible changing cubicles are available and include wash basins, shower, toilet, adjustable hanging bench and ceiling hoist
  • Our other changing areas can also accommodate accessible users and our village change also has accessible shower facilities
  • All our accessible changing rooms have emergency alarms located within them.  In addition to providing the fixed tip-up shower seat a mobile shower chair can also be provided
