KAL was very excited to launch our KAL Customer Stars scheme in June this year, giving KAL customers and staff the opportunity to nominate KAL customers who they felt deserved special recognition.

We have been delighted with the fantastic number of nominations we received. The entries were considered by KAL’s senior team, and due to a tie-break, we are pleased to share that there were two winners on this occasion.

We are delighted to announce the joint winners are:

Martin Jones

Martin was nominated by Sara, our Contact Centre Manager, who was so impressed with his resilience, with the following comments:

Martin exemplifies unwavering dedication and resilience through his commitment to staying active despite facing significant adversity. His determination serves as a powerful source of inspiration to all of us, especially those who struggle to maintain consistent activity in our own lives. Martin’s perseverance not only highlights his strength of character but also motivates the entire community to prioritise health and well-being, proving that challenges can be overcome with courage and tenacity.

Jules Armitage

Jules was nominated by Lisa who is part of our Front of House Team at Spen Valley Leisure Centre. Lisa was inspired by Jules’ dedication, with the following comments:

Jules is blind and is very inspirational. She and her guide dog Taya come to Spen Valley every Tuesday and Thursday, where she attends Pilates and length swims. We have created a very welcoming & safe environment for Jules and Taya so they both feel comfortable and looked after. Jules recognises many staff and customers by voice. Although she is very capable, her popularity ensures she has no shortage of assistance should she need it. She has done rock climbing, paddle boarding and tandem cycles regularly and she doesn’t allow her sight loss to stop her doing anything and will give anything a go without fuss or complaint. Truly inspirational.
