As part of my Fitness for Health or Live Well membership, can I access other KAL activities?
We recommend that you start by attending the structured Fitness for Health or Live Well exercise classes you have been referred to and follow ERS (Exercise Referral Scheme) instructor guidance regarding taking part in any additional exercise or activity. The programme aims to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to exercise at a beneficial level for your health.
Can I do the Exercise Referral programme twice?

No. Upon the completion of your programme you should be able to continue your journey using classes on our health timetable at a discounted rate via the KAL Active Movers membership.

However, if your health deteriorates during the time of the programme and you are advised to stop exercise, you may be re-referred later and will start the programme again.

Can I book onto additional activities on the Live Well programme?

Initially you will not have access to additional activities. Access for the programme will be exclusively for ‘Live Well’ classes. As each person progresses through the programme, access will be re-assessed on a case-by-case basis.

I use a wheelchair or have difficulty using stairs, how can I access my sessions?

Each centre has a gate to allow room for wheelchair access and a lift to allow access to the upper floors where the consultation areas and studios are based.

Huddersfield Leisure Centre also has a mobility scooter pick up service where a member of staff can meet you at the bus station or at your drop off point outside of the centre. Please make your instructor aware that you will need wheelchair support.

I’ve been referred – can I start attending the classes straight away?

Before starting the Fitness for Health or Live Well sessions you will need to attend an initial assessment. Once you’ve been referred a member of the ERS (Exercise Referral Scheme) team will contact you to arrange this (over the phone or via email). Once your initial assessment has been booked, you will be sent a series of questionnaires to complete prior to this appointment.
