Junior Fitness Members Guidance

For our Junior members here is some important guidance 

You can collect your card and have you photo taken at Front of House on your first visit. Please ensure you bring your physical card on each visit or you will not be allowed entry.

Booking & Attendance

Please note that with a Junior Fitness membership, all sessions must be pre-booked.
Juniors cannot attend sessions without a booking or attend at any time with another member.

Mandatory Requirements

A Junior Gym Orientation is mandatory before attending Junior Gym.
Both a Junior Gym Orientation and a Teen Strength Workshop are mandatory before attending Teen Gym.

Membership Access by Age

Ages 8–10:

  • Unlimited swimming
  • Junior Swim Fit
  • Track (supervised)

 

Ages 11–12, All of the above, plus:

  • Family Fitness Classes
  • Junior Fitness Classes
  • Family Gym (supervised)
  • Junior Gym

 

Junior Gym allows 11–12-year-olds to exercise in a safe and controlled environment with support from our fully qualified fitness instructors. All instructors are specially trained to work with juniors and ensure exercises are safe and age-appropriate.

During Junior Gym sessions, 11–12-year-olds have access to:

  • Cardiovascular machines
  • Pin-selected weight machines

 

Junior Gym sessions are available at:

Batley Sports & Tennis Centre, Colne Valley Leisure Centre, Holmfirth Pool & Fitness Centre, Huddersfield Leisure Centre, Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre, and Spen Valley Leisure Centre.

Ages 13–15, All of the above, plus:

  • Teen Gym*
  • Strength Workshop

 

Teen Gym enables 13–15-year-olds to exercise safely with support from qualified instructors trained specifically to work with juniors.

During Teen Gym sessions, 13–15-year-olds have access to:

  • Cardiovascular machines
  • Pin-selected machines
  • Plate-loaded machines
  • Free weights (including racks, barbells, and dumbbells)

 

Teen Gym sessions are available at:

Batley Sports & Tennis Centre, Colne Valley Leisure Centre, Holmfirth Pool & Fitness Centre, Huddersfield Leisure Centre, Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre, and Spen Valley Leisure Centre.

What Does the Junior Gym Orientation Involve?

The 30-minute Junior Gym Orientation is mandatory for any junior aged 11+ wishing to attend Junior Gym, Teen Gym, or Family Gym. Juniors must attend with a parent or guardian*. This refers to a responsible parent, relative, or guardian aged 16 or over.

 

During the orientation, a qualified instructor will:

  • Introduce the junior to the gym environment
  • Provide key safety information
  • Demonstrate correct equipment use
  • Discuss suitable activities based on the junior’s goals

What Does the Teen Strength Workshop Involve?

The 30-minute Strength Workshop is mandatory for 13–15-year-olds wishing to attend Teen Gym. This session is delivered by instructors trained specifically to coach juniors and focuses on:

 

Without completing both the Junior Gym Orientation and the Teen Strength Workshop, access to Teen Gym will not be permitted.
