Water Safety Week

Curious about when the next Water Safety Week is scheduled during your child's swimming lessons?

Stop and Think

Always swim in a safe place

  • Only swim at a lifeguarded beach or pool.
  • Check for dangers such as cold water, hidden currents, deep/shallow water, uneven and slippery surfaces and steep banks.
  • Always check for safety signage.

Stay Together

Never go alone!

  • Always swim with an adult.
  • Tell a family member where you are going and when you will be back.
  • Make sure you have a bright swimsuit.

Float

If you fall in or become tired - float on your back until you can control your breathing.

Then, either call for help or swim to safety.

Call 999

  • Call 999 and ask for Fire & Rescue or Coastguard (if on the beach).
  • Throw something that floats to help but never enter the water to rescue.
