Swimming Lesson Guidelines

Adult Accompaniment

All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Children in pre school swimming; an adult will be required in the pool with them during lessons

Lesson moves within the same stage

To ensure fairness and consistency for all members, we require 30 days’ notice to move a lesson within the same stage.

Our aim is to provide children with consistency in their lessons and to minimise disruption to others. Each time a child moves classes, their new teacher must reassess their level, which can affect the overall progress of the group.

For these reasons, we kindly ask that changes to lesson dates and times (within the same stage) are kept to an absolute minimum.

We do not open the portal for moves within Stage moves.

For children moving up a Stage they can be moved with immediate effect.  Current availability can be checked via this link Junior Swimming Lesson Availability – KAL Swim. If you find a suitable class please call the Customer Service Team on 01484 766131.

Lateness

KAL’s lateness policy is:

1.Swimmers must be on poolside for the start time of their lesson. If a swimmer arrives at the facility late for the lesson, they will not be able to attend their lesson and will not be permitted to the changing area.
2.You should aim to arrive in plenty of time, check in by swiping your child’s membership card and giving their lesson time at reception before heading to the changing rooms. As a minimum, please ensure you arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the lesson to avoid being denied entry to the pool.
3.KAL also suggest your child arrives swim ready, where possible, to reduce time in the changing areas prior to the lesson commencing.
4.Centre staff are not permitted to allow entry to the centre if your child is late to their lesson.

Whist we appreciate this can be upsetting for you and your child, lateness causes disruption to the class. It can also distract the swim instructor from being able to deliver from the plan they are working to, and your child would not complete the required warm up, which prepares both the body and mind for the lesson.
