Teaching Swimming

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ are in three sections, and candidates must successfully pass all to attain the qualification. Courses delivered across multiple KAL facilities.

STA Award in Teaching Swimming

 

Developed by STA’s aquatic experts, this internationally recognized qualification enhances your vocational skills and technical knowledge as a swimming teacher. Regulated by Ofqual and accredited by SQA Accreditation, the course enables you to independently teach essential swimming skills, water safety, and all four key strokes to both adult and child participants. Upon completion, you’ll possess the expertise to advance your swimming teaching career globally.

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

 

This comprehensive course equips you with the essential knowledge and skills required for the role of a lifeguard and pool supervisor. You will engage in practical training sessions focusing on lifesaving techniques, pool rescue interventions, and effective responses to pool emergencies. The curriculum includes instruction in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage, and First Aid, ensuring you are well-prepared to handle a variety of situations that may arise in an aquatic environment.

Level 1 Swimming Assistant

 

This course develops your knowledge, skills and abilities as an assistant swimming teacher. It will enable you to actively support a qualified swimming teacher in the delivery of a planned learn to swim session.

Online and Virtual Learning is a more flexible approach where you complete the theoretical elements of the course online through interactive activities and checks on learning, prior to the practical workshops.

The course covers the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme, covering Stages 1-7. It includes practical poolside learning, supported by e-learning theory elements, providing a comprehensive understanding of effective swimming teaching techniques. Upon successful completion, you will be qualified to deliver swimming lessons to a range of participants.
